Overheard while passing the BU Art Gallery's current exhibitions on the Gulag.

Some kid who looked like a BU student: "The Russians had labor camps? Who did they put in them?"

To be fair, his companion did reply, "Dude! They totally had labor camps!"

To be fair, I often come across huge gaps in my knowledge that make the hubby look at me funny and say "um...duh!" (Well, not really, he's too sweet to do that, but you get the point). Reminds me of one of the SR crowd coming to lunch and saying excitedly "hey, did you know that raindrops are really round???" we all looked at her and said "ummm...yeah. Cheeseburger?"

A college freshman now was, what, one year old when the Berlin wall came down?

Ah, well. Hopefully, maybe someday kids will be cluelessly expressing the same thing about the US.
