Ghibli Museum (三鷹の森ジブリ美術館)

I know some folks on my flist are going to Nippon 2007, and it occurred to me that visitors interested in anime in general, and Studio Ghibli in particular, might be interested in a side trip to the Ghibli Museum, which is in Mitaka, about 20 minutes by train from Tokyo's Shinjuku station. (The whole trip from the Minato Mirai station, near the convention center, takes a bit over an hour, with two changes.)

Tickets must be arranged in advance, ideally before you leave, and are ¥1000 for adults. These tickets specify the date of visit. (Tickets bought in Japan specify both the date and the time, and the procedure is apparently only in Japanese, so it seems like a better idea to arrange them through a travel agent before you go.)

http://www.tautoz.com/ghiblimuseum/ has a trip report, with many photos.

My boss at Harvard went there on his last visit to Japan, and came back with a book about it and cels from various movies and a long, glowing review of it. He is a busy person, but spent about 30 minutes in the office telling us all about it!
