Vision care provider recommendations, Davis Sq. area, Somerville, MA

I need new glasses. And contacts. And both my old and new insurance plans cover vision care.

Any thoughts on providers I should consider or avoid?

My current eye doctor doesn't do contact lens consultations, and is out in Watertown, so I'd like to find someone who will cover contact lenses.

Thanks in advance!

Usually when this question comes up people recommend Parelli Optical in Porter Square (same building as Pizzaria Uno). They of course have optometrists but not an opthamologist.

Cool, thanks!

I second that. Even though they often don't have full insurance, their selection, quality, and service are great.

i've liked general optical, over on mass ave at the corner of creighton.

Is Newton too far?

I've been going to the same guy in Newton (he was originally in Harvard Square and I followed him when he moved) for over a dozen years. I kept going to him while I lived in New York, he's that good. He's in the For Eyes on Needham Street, near Route 9.
