I was about to post a comprehensive roundup of all my phone numbers. It lists them in order of usefulness.

When I got past a half dozen phone numbers I realized it was ridiculous. So I saved it and moved on.

The quick summary: I have phone numbers local to Boston (+1.617), San Francisco (+1.415), and New Haven, CT (+1.203). Those are the best ones at which to reach me. Contact me for the digits.

(I realize that nowadays few people care whether a number is local or not, but I thought I'd be helpful to those few people who are actually dialing from places with free local service.)

Want an invite for GrandCentral?

If the answer turns out to be "yes" it might be a couple of days, as I'm leaving for the weekend shortly. But I'd be glad to send you one. I've been fiddling with it and so far find it pretty neat. (I haven't worked up the guts to give out the number much, even though I have it by default sending unknown people to voicemail directly.)

This is my third, or maybe fourth reading of this post.

Only just now did I finally get that you meant you have too many phone-numbers which, when dialed, reach *you*. I was trying to figure out why you would post a list of all the numbers you have in the memory of your phone, or possibly some other address-book technology.

Plus, I was trying to figure out if there was was some kind of calculation of standard deviation, which meant you had 1.6 more numbers from the Boston area, and 1.2 more numbers from the CT area, but then, wouldn't there have to be some negatives, too? I guess the rest could be randomized outside of those cities....

anyway, I get it now.

There are individual reasons for each number, but more or less summed up they work out to be "It seemed like a good idea at the time..." :)

I admit that it may have taken me a few moments to get where he was going, too. It doesn't help that I look at European numbers, which a lot of the times have a decimal in place of the comma... And thus I thought, "Good God, he really does know everybody."
