belfrynotes reminded me that both Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln were born 199 years ago today.

I suggest grand events to celebrate the 200th anniversary of their births next year featuring giveaways of both $5 bills and £10 notes. :)

In Seattle tonight there will be an event called "Four bars and seven beers ago..." which will consist of a lot of people in tall hats and beards going to bars on Capitol Hill. I'm busy tonight, which is unfortunate as I have both tall hat and beard.

And in other Lincoln related tidbits, Ravenzanne and I passed through a town in upstate New York last summer which was home to a girl who wrote to Lincoln during his campaign for president and suggested that he grow a beard. After he won, and before he was inaugurated, he went there to meet her. There's a statue to commemorate the event.
