Mid-Autumn Festival is when the moon is supposedly at it's fullest and roundest. I was out driving on empty roads in the wee hours of the morning--it's a great time to drive, as long as deer aren't jumping in front of your car--and the sight of the moon, full and bright reminded me that Mid-Autumn festival was today.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone! (中秋节快乐!)

Now I want a mooncake. Preferably a plain black bean one.

Would they have decent mooncakes at H Mart, you think? I know they are more Korean in focus. Maybe you should go and find out and let us know :) I really should get to HMart sometime and stock up on the dumplings Sophia likes, so I would be interested to hear whether the black bean mooncakes there are worthwhile as well.

I didn't see moon cakes last time I was there (last weekend), but then again I wasn't looking for them.

Reminds me though, I am all out of dumplings.....

They do have mooncakes. They're sitting by the entrance near Tous les Jours, the bakery.

Unfortunately, they only sell them in boxes of at least a half-dozen, it looks like, and they don't have any that are just black bean. Most of the boxes have either lotus seed paste or a mix of flavors, and I just want one black bean one.

But yes, I already checked. It's easier now that I live within five miles of H-Mart. :)

I want a mooncake too!

Obviously, I can't actually help, but it does strike me that if you got a box of half a dozen you'd find someone to help you eat the rest. :)

Happy Mid-Autumn festival!

I love mooncakes. I have a couple of favorite bakeries in Chinatown that make nice ones. My favorite is mixed nut filling.

wasn't it lovely? I turned off all the lights and just lay there in moonlight for an hour feeling happy about that.

I thought of you when I wrote this, of course.

There should be mooncakes available down in Chinatown, if you get a chance.

Wow, I wonder when the last time was that those were within 6 or so hours of each other.

I'm glad you thought of me. :) I also really like the white rice flour cake, and I haven't had that in years either.

I'm sure there are some in chinatown, but I think tsui managing to teleport them to me is about as likely as me making it there in the next few days. We've been at healthcon level two around here all week, so I'm not to leaving the apartment unless I absolutely have to. I obviously need a mooncake fairy.
