Roller skating!

[livejournal.com profile] mizarchivist organized a group skate over at Roller World in Saugus. It was fun!

I realized that even though I hadn't been in a rink since high school, all those hours way back when laid down some serious muscle memory. I failed to fall at least two dozen times, saved by reflexes I didn't realize I had until after I'd recovered.

[livejournal.com profile] noire observed that when I first got on the floor, I looked like I didn't know what I was doing, but ten minutes later I looked like someone who knew how to skate.

The community for group skates is [livejournal.com profile] saugussk8. Join us!

I'm looking forward to going again because there are a whole host of things I used to be able to do when I was 17 which I want to try doing again.

(I suppose that's true of other things in my life as well as skating.)

I would really like to go sometime, if I can a) beg a ride and it happens on a night I can get. I used to skate for 5 hours every saturday morning at the local rollerrink, from age 11 to 13. Loved it, and think it might be a blast to go again.

Good to see you last night and yeah, once you tightened up the skates a bit you did great.

Haven't rollerskated in years, though I went ice skating a few times last winter. Zanne's been going to the rink near us now and then.

By the way, sorry for somehow not really speaking to you at all when we were actually in the same place last weekend. I'm not sure exactly how that happened, but I certainly wasn't trying to avoid you or anything.

Oh, no problem, no apologies necessary.

Reunions are like that. I certainly didn't think it was intentional.

See you on your coast sometime? (I'm glad we're in touch again, btw, because it makes this sort of conversation possible.)
