My friend Nick Mamatas is offering to critique manuscripts for $2 per page. He's senior editor at Clarksworld and also writes fiction and non-fiction which has been published in six languages. Recently I posted a link to a short essay of his, called Walking on L. I.

His post about his critique service, with the relevant details is at: http://nihilistic-kid.livejournal.com/1125934.html.

The links should give you some idea of his style of writing. He's a great guy and I love reading his reviews. So check them out.

$2 A PAGE! that's too steep. My story is over 300 pages long.

Well, he did say he was doing it because he's young and needs the money.

Well, in theory, if you're writing a story to sell it, this is just an investment that should make you more than that.

But obviously his service won't be for everyone.

I hope he can find some customers.

In LA, I'm pretty sure that industry standard is about $50 for coverage of a script that can be anywhere between 90 and 140 pages. I'm not sure what the rate for books are, but it certainly isn't $2/page.
