Followup to that $500,000 house meme, for some other places.

I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] evilmagnus that I'd wasted a few perfectly good minutes looking at property listings elsewhere. This was the result.

Ack, PLEASE put that enormous URL behind a cut. Or format it with an A tag. It's making my flist gigantor-wide and scrolling things all off the page.

Fixed, more or less.

Let me know if it's still a problem.

Much prettier and more readable! Thank you! *kiss*

You gotta love those UK listings. They're actually descriptive.

I'm actually a bit surprised by how similar these all seem! I guess big cities are big cities...

Which reminds me that I should look at DC...

Wow.

I just got back from Salem Ohio with last weekend's real estate circular from the Saturday paper. I am going to do a comparison post about real estate here and there, and I wasn't sure how to frame it, but you just gave me an idea. Wow.

(I am SERIOUSLY thinking of saving up some money to buy a plot or two of land out there to sit on for a while.)

Here's a Seattle example for you. I walked by this place this morning on the way to the bus:

$499,999
Type: Residential
Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms: 2.5
Square Footage: 2,440
Year Built: 1928
Taxes: $3,308.00
Property Description: Deck, Fully Fenced, Patio
Lot Size: 0.16 Acre (6,930 SqFt)
Garage Size: 2 Car
Exterior: Wood Exterior Finish
Fireplaces: 1 Fireplace

Those are small bedrooms, though. From the pictures it looks like the attic was converted into living space at some point. Also, this is overpriced, I think. I'd be surprised if they get the asking price.

but how do condo maint fees compare? my stepsister (nyc) pays about 50% as much for condo fees as on her $500k mortgage...

I wish they all listed square footage, esp the NYC one!
