I have one of these:

As far as I can tell, there is no way to send or receive SMS text messages on this device. Yet, Sprint insist on occasionally charging me 20¢ for an SMS.

Each time, I tell them that the device cannot send or receive text messages and ask them to remove the charge. Each time, they remove the charge, but a couple of months later, a charge appears.

I called them again today, and this time, I added that I wanted SMS capability removed from the account. It is unclear whether they have managed to do this.

I don't actually expect them to have customer service representatives who can understand what a wireless broadband card is--I have a rather low level of expectation for CSRs, actually, which keeps both me and the CSR happy--but I do expect that the customer service system be set up with a procedure for the category "wireless broadband card". Clearly, it has not been, because every CSR has been, or has affected to be, confused about the existence of a wireless broadband card which does not have the functions of a telephone.

And no, I can't use the self-service system and dial #2, #3, or #4. It's not a telephone.

I console myself with the knowledge that I have wasted more than 20¢ of Sprint's money.

Next time it happens, I would call the MA attorney general's office and tell them that Sprint is billing me for fraudulent charges despite multiple, regular prior complaints, and ask if they can do anything about it.

I am actually having a fight with T-mobile over their refusal to block my phones for SMS. They claim I have to pay for a plan that is $20/month more in order to "enable" the "service" of not receiving unwanted SMS messages from strangers.

I filed a complaint with the FCC. You should do the same.

No, no, you should find out what the text messages SAY! Maybe your card is carrying on a relationship with another wireless card.
