One more incongruity...

...was watching Pirates of the Caribbean in a small, open-air Thai restaurant on Samui island, near Chaweng beach. It was one of the worst subtitling jobs I've ever seen; some of the lines were translated with words that might have sounded like words they were saying, while other lines simply weren't translated at all. It was also utterly pointless, because they were English subtitles for an English soundtrack.

It was a pirated Pirates movie, of course.
