I tend to meet the world expecting that most people are not going to fuck me over, and if it's not a real imposition, people are generally helpful. When they are not helpful, it's not usually out of malice or spite - usually it's ennui or inattention. In greeting the world this way, for the most part, this seems to be what I get back; people helping me with luggage, people driving me home, strangers helping out, etc.
