Timing.
So, last night at MIT, I saw a poster for this:
http://web.mit.edu/cheme/news/2012/sarofim-symp.html
Because the last name isn't that common, and I know another Sarofim from squares, I started digging around. 1st, I discovered that the man's CV was MOST impressive. 2nd, I discovered that academic obits don't talk about the family.
3rd, I found legacy.com's link:
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/pilotonline/obituary.aspx?n=adel-fares-sarofim&pid=154965990&fhid=5773
In there, I found A) yes, he was Marcus' dad and B) “The grandson of Morcos Simaika Pasha, founder of the Coptic Museum in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Sarofim was born October 21, 1934 in Cairo.”
Then today you posted this.
