I had a fantasy today while driving this afternoon.

What if, after you voted, you automatically opted out of all election advertising for that election?

Wouldn't that be nice? No phone calls, no banner ads, no TV spots, no radio ads, nothing. It's a nice fantasy.

Why yes, I did hand in my absentee ballot last week.

that would be awesome.

Can I send my ballot in, oh, 6 months ago?

And once I donate to NPR I'd like my radio to block all soliciting by them for 6 months.

Our very fantasy! Let me listen to Prairie Home in peace!

Oh, I would love that.

Life in general needs an "I Paid" button.

All voting in Oregon is by mail in ballot. Once you mail in your ballot, all calls, mailings and in person campaigning stop at your home. It's lovely (though does nothing about radio is tv ads)

I'm really impressed by this, because I'm still getting calls from candidates for offices in a state I haven't been eligible to vote in for years.

That, or I still haven't been removed from the voter lists there.

We've long said that if you've sent your check to NPR, they should let you listen to Prairie Home in peace.

That is, I agree.
