What I find noteworthy about this particular "lost via satnav" story is that it wouldn't have happened like that before the Schengen Agreement, because the border controls would have stopped her at the first border she tried to cross.

Befuddled as she was, I still suspect that would have tipped her off before she got all the way to Zagreb.

I'd think the road signs in German would have tipped her off that she had gone in the wrong direction.
