I thought I'd get some perspective on this weather event...

...so I thought I'd see what the Weather Network had to say about it:

Boston, MA
Current Weather 13:00 EST
1°C Light snow

Feels Like : -6
Wind : 41 km/h

Humidity : 86%
Pressure : 102.09 kPa
Visibility : 1.2 km

Sunrise : 6:49
Sunset : 17:07
Ceiling : 600 ft

24-Hour Precipitation Outlook
30-40 cm of snow from Friday Afternoon to Saturday Afternoon.

Not too bad, eh?

Their home page adds a link to Storm Watch: Major storms for ON, Maritimes and New England - TV has updates..., although the file itself mostly talks about Southern Ontario, with hardly a word about the Maritimes or New England.

Interesting. Those are the lowest estimates I've seen so far.

The combination of rain and snow is absolutely miserable here in NYC. On one hand, I want to try my new icelandic ski jacket in this foul weather, on the other it warm inside. :) I should hit up Boston to see if they need any icecap. :)

We just got the go ahead to Icecap Chicago's commuter rail.

Yeah, you're getting glop, which sucks. Wait until after the driving ban to come up here. The governor announced that as of 4PM anyone on the state roads (other than emergency and essential personnel) would be ticketed.

We just got the go ahead to Icecap Chicago's commuter rail.

Awesome! Congrats!

It's a ice cover so catenary lines don't get iced over.

I thought I'd get relatively low-key coverage from a Canadian weather site. I don't know if they lowballed the snow estimate or if they just took the blanket estimate from this image:

That image says "Snowfall Forecast through Saturday AM", which isn't the end of the event here in Eastern MA.
