Yeah, I just saw that. What a loss for literature. His Culture series inspired the SF that I'm writing now, so I'm reading through the Culture series again to make sure I know the basics. Which is no hardship.
Terminal cancer patients often seem to go very quickly. My own mother, when it was her time, seemed to make a decision, and left very abruptly.
He had become my favorite author when I first read Use of Weapons. I'm very sad that he is now unable to contribute more to a wonderful body of work. Everything I've read about him makes him sound like he was an exceptional good fellow all around.
