In very short, and in order:

John's Water Ice. Yes, we got water ice first. We were thirsty. I got back of throat freeze, I ate it so fast.

Pat's King of Steaks. I'm a Pat's over Geno's kinda guy. Also, Jim's on South Street had a line out the door.

Capogiro Gelato. More frozen dessert. Of course.

Weber’s Famous Root Beer. I was still thirsty, and I love the old drive-in experience. They've been there since 1954. Kicks the snot out of Sonic in terms of both authenticity and taste.

We didn't get to the Franklin Fountain today because again, there was a line out the door. Maybe tomorrow.

Pics may follow as I took some but am too busy tonight to upload.

WATER ICE! -flails in joy-

I did make it to Franklin Fountain and, while it was good, I did find the enormous line offputting and the prices high - it was good, but not change-my-life good. I actually enjoyed Shane's Candies around the corner more, and the cheesesteaks at Old City Pizza were winners (I had a chicken steak - despite the name, nobody was ordering pizza.)

Jim's steaks is terrible. (But then again, I was always an Oliveri's partisan.)

Jeff and I recently discovered John's Roast Pork. Totally worth a trip! And a VERY easy stop on the DC <--> Boston drive...

Yeah, there will be more water ice in our future. :)

Thanks for the other recommendations!

Well the roast pork definitely! Get it with greens and sharp provolone.

The cheesesteak was yummy too but it's been so long since I've been to the other famous places that its hard for me to compare...

Yeah, not worth waiting in line for. But we were already on South St. so I looked.
