I'd amend that to say that almost everyone is crazier than they look (except those who actually look really crazy...) and the bar for crazy is slightly higher than we generally assume. :)

Well sure, because a lot of us couldn't keep a livelihood and housing if we looked as crazy as we really were. (I think we can usually find friends who tolerate a whole lotta crazy. Landlords and bosses? Not so much.)

Although I find that a lot of people who go out of their way to try to look "crazy" are less crazy than they look, which is sad-making.
