Flood!

I was confronted with a bit of a flood this morning. At first, I thought there was a leak in the kitchen. Then I heard workmen in the corridor. I followed the water out of the apartment. They were working in the furnace/laundry room.

Normally, living close to the washers in the building is an advantage, but not today. One of the water pipes froze overnight. It flooded the nearby basement apartments. At least three of the apartments have soggy carpeting now. Ours does.

Also I'm told we have no running water.

This is an exciting way to start the day!

Oh man, that sucks. Well I know we are pretty far away, but if you need to use a shower you are welcome to come here.

On the plus side, it looks like you'll be getting new carpeting! :)

Thanks for the offer! We ultimately didn't need to go to anyone else's place because they fixed the plumbing pretty quick.

However, we are not getting new carpeting. I hope this carpet and its padding doesn't grow mold.
