Which goes to show the degree to which immigration has changed the relatively limited parts of the US that have received substantial immigration since it was liberalized in 1965.

I do keep wondering, though, about the various statements made at the time of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 that it would not change the demographic makeup of the country. It must have been obvious then that it would have a substantial effect. But it may have been one of those times where the politicians realized that a change was necessary even if the public wouldn't support it.
