David Brooks thinks Trump will kill the Republican Party. Personally, I think the Party will continue, it's not like the Trumpistas haven't been a part of the alliance for a long time, it's just that we've never before had a candidate that spoke directly to them. The "interesting" part is whether this is the start of a change in direction of the overall party, or even a realignment between the two parties.
I hate it, hate it, hate it. I'm not a democrat, but I envy the optimism of the DNC right now. The best thing about Trump is that he may kill the republican party and give us the chance for something new. I doubt it will happen, but I wonder if I can do anything to help shape what it does become. Is there a way to take the philosophy of smaller government and local control, and leave the racism and divisiveness behind?
