Yes! Thank you! I've put a link to this article in my LJ, too - I think Jones says it all very well.

I remember the article in the NY Times that he's talking about, and I remember frothing at it myself. And one of my professors wrote a letter to the NY Times about the very issue that Jones brings up near the end of his article, about Washington Irving :)
