One of you out there was telling me about a comparison site you really liked. As my brain resembles a screen door (not even a sieve), I have forgotten the site.

Anyone willing and able to enlighten me? My mom has inherited a cheap Nokia GSM phone and wants to get service for it. (Yes, one of the considerations will be whether it's cheaper to get a bare SIM for it or a "free" phone package.)

Thanks in advance to all!

Um, well I don't have a site, but I've experience directly and indirectly with three of the big companies (verizon, cingular and ATT). From what I can tell verizon has better service and coverage than the other two. ATT seriously screwed my sister over and Cingular only seems to work well in the Connecticut area.

These days, the best deals seem to be service+phone from amazon. my kid brother just got a an ericsson T610 for $-150 from amazon with tmobile.

How often does your mom need to use the phone? I got my mom a pay as you go plan via Virgin Mobile. basically she has all the minutes she needs (she just uses to facilitate meetings, ie 'Where are you? I'm going to be late...') and emergencies.

It works out to be $80/year for between 360-800 minutes a year.

As far as GSM pay as you go, AT&T has a service and T-mobile also has a pay as you go. I like T-mobile better as you can get SMS with a pay as you go.
