...so I'm looking for another pair. A cheap pair, clearly, since they don't have a very long life expectancy around me.

Anyone know of a likely place to buy a pair? My current pair look like Oakley M Frames but cost $10 from a guy at a stand in the Staples parking lot in Middletown. (He's not there anymore.) I'm thinking of the folks who sell huge numbers of cheap sunglasses from booths or stands, but anywhere cheap is fine.

Anywhere in greater Boston, Connecticut, or even NYC will do (the latter is least good, because I'm not going there until after the RNC leaves). If you give me suggestions farther afield, that may be helpful but not immediately so, as I'm sure I'll need to buy more sunglasses when I'm there, wherever there happens to be.

Thanks in advance.

Burlington Mall has a cart full of them and they are fairly good ones.

I used to buy nothing but cheap sunglasses, $10-15 tops, because they didn't last long in my posession either.

When I tried a pair of nice, expensive sunglasses (first Revo, now prescription shades), I discovered two things:

1. I can SEE through them! The difference in quality is astounding.

2. I take much better care of them. If they're not on my face, they are attached to me or in their case, because I know they're not easily replaceable.

Any CVS or Walgreen drugstore will have cheap sunglasses. I too buy the cheap ones, mostly because they end up scratched and broken because I tend to just toss them in my bag when I'm not wearing them. Or I throw them on the kitchen table and the cat comes along and drags them around the house.

This business of randomly tossing one's eyewar into a bag or whatever always gives me shrieking cognitive dissonance... because I've worn glasses since I was 8 and had taking proper care of them drilled into my head at that age.

I realize this is not quite a response to your question, but if your concern is breaking them (as opposed to losing them) you might actually consider buying a more expensive pair. I got a pair of Oakley A-Wire Thick titanium sunglasses as a graduation present, and I've stepped on them twice and dropped them many times. (What can I say? I'm clumsy.) They're still in good shape, whereas the ones I've bought for myself tend to end up in tiny pieces.

*shrug* I'm sure there's a middle ground there. And, YMMV.
