Make sure, though, that if you're going to owe money you pay NOW, because even if you file an extension they'll still hit you with late payment penalties.

So what if one is only going to be one day late in mailing one's returns? Is it still worth filing an extension? :)

So, I don't expect to be more than a week late mailing in my return, and that only because all the info is in Massachusetts and I am here in Connecticut, and I filed my extension.

However, you already know my attitude towards official bureaucracies. :)
