Lo Mein in Boston.
Jul. 15th, 2005 11:49 pmSo, hypothetically speaking, if I were looking for that old Cantonese standby, lo mein, and I wanted the best I could find, where in the Boston area would I go?
Less hypothetically, if it were quarter to midnight on Friday night, and I were in Somerville, would I still be able to find lo mein that was significantly better than the stuff I could find in the late night Chinese delivery places?
Even less hypothetically, anyone want to go search for it with me, starting from somewhere between Davis Square and Powderhouse Circle? Right now, I mean.

But I suspect even "the Lau" just closed. :(

I saw some of them in rehearsals. What I saw looked quite good, and by all accounts they're going well. You should see them.

Date: 2005-07-18 04:05 pm (UTC)The hole-in-the-wall Chinese place on College Ave actually makes a decent lo mein (so sayeth the uncultured round-eyes) and has the distinct advantage of being open on weekends until 1AMish. Or at least, they did when I was living in Davis.
