Driving on the right side of the road again.

The only thing that's taking me a bit to adjust to is shifting with the right hand again. Everything else is switching over okay. I find myself reaching around with my left hand, particularly when looking for first gear when starting off from a light.

It's odd, but I don't remember ever having to break that habit before.

It took me several months after we got back to have confidence in parking lots.

Oddly enough, that wasn't much of a problem; literally the first thing I had to do once I got into a car in Germany was to drive it out of the airport parking lot. Then, after driving half an hour down the autobahn, I had to back the car into a little parking space in my friend's apartment building's underground garage with a pillar on one side, another car on the other, and his motorcycle behind me.

Somehow I managed not to hit anything, which is more than I can say for last night, when I actually backed into the pannier of his bike. Fortunately, it simply made a loud noise, without knocking over the bike. Oops.

I still think it's strange that so far my only odd reaction is reaching down and to the left for the gear shift.

Hey, this never occurred to me before, but are the positions of the gears reversed in England, too? That is, is 1st gear on the right hand side, or the driver's side?

Gear layouts do not get reversed. Good thing, too. It would be really annoying if they did.
