The Crown Shoes, 377 Main St. (at Harvard St.), Medford, MA

I wanted to post this last summer, but then the summer ended and the weather got cool. This summer hasn't really happened yet, so I think it's a good time to post this.

[livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books and I drove by this shoe place and kept thinking, that looks worth checking out. It was.

It's a Brazilian shoe store, with a fairly wide variety of women's and a smaller variety of men's shoes. [livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books found some fun sandals, of which there were many varieties. (She can give you more detailed information on what she got.) I found nothing for myself, mainly because my taste doesn't run to Brazilian styles. But the prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. Their Portuguese is probably better than their English, but they were helpful enough.

They claim to be having a sale right now. Who knows. The prices aren't high, anyway.

Their website is Flash only, and doesn't seem to talk about women's shoes at all, which is odd given that that's most of their stock. I'm going to give you all the substantive info here:

While you needn't bother visiting the website, you could do worse than to visit the shop and give them a browse, if you're looking for not-very-sensible women's summer shoes.

Hunh. I lived in Medford for five years and I've never seen this place. I'll have to check it out, as I'm a fan of not-very-sensible women's summer shoes.

It's not more than a year and a half old, having replaced a bakery and another shop, which I think may have been a bridal shop. Things seem to turn over in that location.

But that whole crossroads is in the process of becoming yet another Brazilian shopping district, so it may be there for a while.

I'll be interested in hearing what you think of it.

That's awesome. I'll let you know what I think when I get over there. (I work in Medford, which makes this trip a relatively painless one.)
