O'Rourke's Diner, 1946-2006
O'Rourke's Diner in Middletown, Connecticut burned down this morning.
That shouldn't mean much to you, but I feel like a lost a family member right now.
About halfway through my freshman year of college at Wesleyan, a group of about 5 of us decided on a Sunday night to hit O'Rourke's at 7:00 am the next morning.
We kept going every Monday until we graduated.

You went to Wesleyan?
I spent a fair bit of time there at the medieval house. I dated a couple of straight roommates... Josh and, um, oops. I forgot the other one's name. :/ How embarrassing!

I didn't, but my then SO went there, and I lived with her there for years while she was an undergrad. And then I got a job there, and was asked to join a co-ed fraternity there, which I did. So my connection to the place is pretty close.
I remember Medieval House, and I have an idea of which Josh you might have dated.
Small world, eh?

Cool! Hey, thanks for blogging about O'Rourke's; I was really glad to get news on that from you guys.
I was wondering--What's Medieval House??
Yah, I think it's been gone a long time, really.
Medieval House was a program house on Lawn Ave., across from the Butts. I'm not sure what's currently housed in the building it used to be in.
This is a death in the family. Oh man.
I remember many a sunrise followed by a hearty "He Man" steak and eggs. :( Taht was before the weight watchers, o'course.
I'm a Medieval House quasi-alum too, Sionnagh. You mustabeen before my time. I'm Pantsie's sister. :) You were probably there when she was.
Man. O'Roukes. I never got to take my kid there! ARG!
