Has anyone else noticed the inordinate number of cars around Camberville with San Francisco and Berkeley residential parking permit stickers on their bumpers?

Given the flow of people between the bits of the Bay Area and Eastern Mass with residents-only parking, this isn't a big surprise, but the stickers still make me smile when I see them.

Question for you Bay Area people: have you folks noticed many cars with Somerville/Cambridge/Boston residential parking permit stickers in their windows? I haven't really been looking out for them when I've been driving around the City or the East Bay. Or is the flow of cars one-way, because of CARB smog requirements? Or something else?

Interesting observation. I never noticed parking stickers for any particular cities, but can start paying attention. What am I looking for? Are the Somerville/Cambridge/Boston ones white with a big letter on them?

I believe all three are window stickers. Somerville ones are round. I'll check tomorrow in daylight to see what Cambridge and Boston ones look like.

All of them go in the rear window or on one of the rear side windows.

OMG, I had Boston permits for YEARS and now I can't remember what they look like!

Does this mean I'm cured?!

I notice Somerville stickers every time I drive.

Okay, admittedly because they're on my own car. Other than that I haven't seen any, though I haven't been looking.

My car, having been bought in CA, has no smog requirement issues...

All I can say is "Yeah, I noticed that (Berkeley/SF stickers on Camberville cars) too."

another reason for the one-way is not emissions standards, but also that the northeast EATS CARS (salt, mostly), so there are more old cars in california, and people might be more likely to ditch their cars before going out there?

I don't have an answer for you, and this is related to your post only in the sense that [livejournal.com profile] unabridg and I will be headed to SF in May to see some people and hit up a whole bunch of wineries, etc., etc. Any vineyard/restaurant/hotel recommendations?

We're also headed to Chicago next week, Costa Rica in April, and he'll be going to Denver for a weekend in June, so if you have any words about any of those, we'll be eager to hear them.

Are you in Mass? Have time to catch up? We'll be in Chicago 16-19 but the 21st/23rd are possibilities?

While I don't have winery recommendations, I do have a handful of restaurant pointers. We should talk. :)

I am in MA, but will be out of town on a business trip next week.

Yes, let's. :)

How does the week of the 26th look for you? Monday and Tuesday evenings are bad for me, and T may be tutoring on Thursdays, so the 28th or March 2nd. Let me know.

I've noticed lots of SF cars in the Boston area. I've noticed lots of Boston-area permits in the Anchorage area. Not sure where they go after that.

And we'll never know, unless Anchorage has residence permit stickers.
