Dropped nearly 4 year old Mac laptop out of car. Aside from a bent screen frame and a dented corner, it appears to be intact (still running). It goes to sleep and wakes up okay, but I have not shut it down or rebooted it on the theory I should back it up first.

Now looking for a 2TB external drive as my current backup drive is full.

Also trying to decide whether to bring it in to the repair shop to find out if they can unbend the frame.

I'd go with Lacie or G-Drive both brands I'd rely upon personally.

ALSO- 2 places to take the mac:
1. Apple store
2. Tech Superpowers (on Newbury St behind my store)
either way they'd fairly price a repair and with the Apple store I know for sure- diagnosis is free, you can make an apt easily online from http:www.apple.com/boylstonstreet or apple.com/cambridgeside
either local and easy- just click on Genius Bar logo on the RT.
Can walk in to- but more likely to wait a bit, this way you can schedule it and just walk in.
I'd have a genius look at it- an if you wanna repair it elsewhere, cool... they just never fail to amaze me.
