Really, the appealing thing about slot machines for me was that they disgorged piles of change. Now, that's gone. There really is no point if they're just going to spit a ticket out. I understand it's cheaper for the casinos not to have to do all that coin handling, but I'm still sad about it.

Guess I'll actually have to go to the bank to get quarters now.

I actually thought it was sad when I found handle-less slot machines. What's the fun in just pressing a button?

Dude, seriously, there is NO POINT without the change.

Maybe there should be a complimentary bucket of coins at the exchange desk --or wherever you go to cash in your winnings-- that folks can run their hands through while waiting. Or perhaps a coin pit for adults to wade around in.

Yeah, they have been slowly changing them over for the last couple of years. It's just not the same with the sound effect chink chink of coins as it is with the real sound of metal dropping ito the metal tray.

You can still find a few that dispense coins at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, but they are mostly all paper tickets now.

It's lame, isn't it? I used to love to stick my pocket change in slots as I walked by although I never used slots much. Now you can't do that anymore. Their loss--it's not much, but that's 5 or 10 bucks a visit they won't get from me.

Do they just give you one paper ticket if you win, or does a jackpot flood you with little bits of paper?

That does take all the real fun out of it. Damned technology.
