I'm torn between putting it into the house downpayment savings fund or to paying back my student loans.
I had the foresight to go to a business school with a very generous loan forgiveness program for students who work for non-profits. That has beefed up my savings pretty well, so I tend to think that making an extra payment towards my highest interest loan (which is higher than anything I could earn on a CD at this point) makes the most sense. On the other hand, buying a house in the next 6 months to a year may make sense. On the other foot, I'm not sure whether it makes sense to buy a condo now for my single life or wait until I hopefully-maybe-someday want to start a family. Oh the joys of indescision!
My suspicion is that you have more than 6 to 12 months to take advantage of the dip in the real estate market. I'm not sure we'll even see prices stop falling by then, business media cheerleaders notwithstanding.
