From http://www.wesleyan.edu/newsrel/announcements/commencement.html:
On Sunday, May 25, 2008, United States Senator Barack Obama will deliver the Commencement Address at the 176th Commencement Ceremony at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

Senator Obama is honored to speak on behalf of United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who was previously scheduled to deliver the address.

"Ted and I talked about me filling in for him at Wesleyan University earlier this week. Considering what he's done for me and for our country, there's nothing I wouldn't do for him. So I'm looking forward to standing in his place on Sunday even though I know I won't be able to fill his shoes," Senator Obama said.
I'm guessing it'll be particularly important to grab a place on Foss Hill this year.

I'll be very curious to hear how good security is.

So, there was a lot of visible security. There were spotters on the roofs, and plenty of uniformed cops: federal, state, and local. Then, there were the guys in suits with wires hanging out of their ears, who arrived in packs.

They cleared out the dorm which faced the field. I was told by someone staying in the building that residents were given the choice of being out of the building by 10 AM (the speech was an hour or so later), or staying inside and not being allowed near any of the windows. I was told that people seen near the windows would be considered a threat and dealt with accordingly, but I'm not sure what the exact phrasing would have been.

When his motorcade left, there was escort by a variety of police: motorcycle cops leading and two escorting vehicles, as well as the one he was riding in. They cleared the sidewalks nearby and kept everyone well back before they drove off.
