I'd almost forgotten, but browngirl's post reminded me.

"Today, June 12, is the 41st anniversary of the decision in Loving vs Virginia, the decision that legalized interracial marriage in the entirety of the United States".

Now our job is to make sure that couples who happen to look the same are not discriminated against.

I often feel demoralized about how little progress we've made (if there has been any forward motion at all) against various isms in the last 20 years. It's nice to be reminded that we have certainly come a long way in the last 50 years, at least. It gives me hope that another wave of progress might be coming.
