[livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books wants to go to Kennywood. "The property features three old wooden coasters still in working order, along with a newer steel coaster, the Phantom's Revenge (2001), and one indoor coaster, the Exterminator (added in 1999)."

I'm game, but as I'm not much for riding coasters myself--I only facilitate her obsession--I figured I'd see if anyone else was up for a trip out there on one of the remaining summer weekends.

(Ages ago, [livejournal.com profile] ketzl proposed a trip to Cedar Point, which we're still keeping in mind, but that's a little more of a road trip than Kennywood. Even if it does have seventeen roller coasters.)

I absolutely love Cedar Point. I have many, many fond memories of Cedar Point. Like my high school physics trip...
Thanks for reminding me! Haven't been there since 1998 or so.

Hmmm, Spam and I will be out Pittsburgh way the weekend of August 15-17, and we've always wanted to go there. Let me know if this would work for you. :)

I totally agree with you on being a non-coaster-phile. My acrophobia keeps me off a lot of rides. [livejournal.com profile] beowabbit, on the other hand, loves coasters, the scarier the better.

We probably can't do a Kennywood trip, but sometime we should do a double date with you guys to Canobie Lake Park. Then Wabbit and [livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books can go wild on the coasters, and you and I can stay on terra firma.

Oh gosh. I haven't been to Canobie Lake for such a long time. I totally want to go again.

We used to go to Cedar Point in the early '70s from Michigan. I'm pretty sure I remember the now-retired Sky Slide, but don't remember any other specific rides at the moment. (We went to a lot of amusement parks over the years.)

She floated the Kennywood idea to me a few weeks ago! If I could only get the time off for a full weekend's trip (I usually have to work Sundays; have Friday and Saturday off) it would be a groovy thing.

You should really stop at Knoebels on your way.

Kennywood is a nice little amusement park! I really enjoyed going there when I was in Pittsburgh. We'd go a couple of times a summer.

I like wooden coasters better than the other ones. The racing coast is nifty.

I did Cedar Point with the fam back in the 80s. Fun stuff, and at the time it had the tallest coaster in the US.

Seeing that I had to beg off the trip to Kennywood or Cedar Point that I was going to take with [livejournal.com profile] starmalachite and [livejournal.com profile] stevemb on the day before or the day after Confluence (this weekend), I might be up for a carpool to either later this summer. If you don't mind, please email me at mrgoodwraith [at] yahoo [dot] com when details begin to be planned. Thanks!
