(no subject)

I just Facebooked the Financial Times, in response to a post about a credit market Q&A they're having tomorrow morning.

This makes me feel very weird, in a way I'm having trouble describing.

i can see that.

"yeah, and then i hooked up with bloomberg on match.com and changed my relationship to the economist on myspace to 'bff'"

Thank you! That's a great way of putting into words what I had trouble saying.

What does it mean to use "Facebook" as a verb in that sentence?

In that sentence, it meant "clicked on the link 'become a fan of the Financial Times' and thereby join their Facebook group, which then makes it possible to participate in their online events, like the credit market Q&A".

Oh, is *that* what "become a fan of" does!

I didn't realize it actually made you able to do things. I thought it was just, you know, declaring your fondness.

I do not find facebook intuitive.

I *think* that's what it does. I am not sure it was necessary or sufficient, but I am led to believe it is.

I do not find facebook intuitive.

Neither do I. :(

Then there is also the use of "Twitter" as a verb. I both facebooked and Twittered NPR's Planet Money for a heads up on their latest podcast. It is very hard to be an arts geek and suddenly be so interested in economics. If only I paid attention more in my econ 101 class in college
