If I have a problem when attempting to sign up for your service, and your customer service won't help, or even answer, why should I expect a better outcome when I have a problem using your service?

Sorry, you lose.

re: http://www.xe.com/fx, who entirely failed to cope with a problem I had signing up. I gave up on them and am now looking for alternatives.

oanda.com

They've been pretty good thus far. Sorry to hear about xe though.

I was looking at them, actually.

I'm trying to move money from one account to another. If you've had experiences with oanda's money transfer between accounts, I'd love to hear about details.

Thanks!

Huh. That looks interesting. Moving money home or forex trading?

Moving money home.

I don't have any experience with that particular XE or Oanda service, so unfortunately I won't be of any help there. I transfer money between countries via HSBC savings accounts. I have one here in Jordan (subpar) and an online savings account based in the US (good). The transfer itself is smooth but slow, and once the money in the US I've never had problems with transfers to other US accounts (Citizens, Bank of America, Citi, etc.). The transfers are free, but as I said, excruciatingly slow (6 business days for a complete transfer). For my needs, though, it works fine and HSBC generally gives good exchange rates.

The one gripe I have is that my US savings account won't allow me to transfer into another HSBC US savings account (my dad's). Silly.

P. S.

Feel free to do that in email, if you prefer.

Yeah, I've had several potential vendors (and lovers) remove themselves from competition when their sales people dropped the ball, leaving me to presume that their service people would be even less adequate. So far, those decisions have all proved to be good ones.

I think it's a good test. Not sufficient, but necessary.
