This can't really be a surprise to anyone.

I guess it's because being a hipster is a full-time job in itself, so how can they be expected to devote their full attention to any other job?

digitalemur has now been dissed by hipster waitstaff in two different countries. She is justifiably cranky about this. I have so far lucked out as I have only found them offhand and inattentive, while she has actually had difficulty being served.

At least the food was good after we finally got it.

You can't be a proper hipster unless you're living off remittances from Mom and Dad. Hence, you don't feel much pressure to do your job well.
