So, is this song being played in the States? It's on heavy rotation in South Africa, and I can see from http://top40-charts.com that it is in Europe, too.

The rotation is heavy enough that it's nearly made me sick of the song, but the song is good enough that it hasn't *quite* happened.

(I saw a question on one of the bulletin boards as to whether the new Dido album was out in the US yet.)

"And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was then
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on...."

How Johannesburg is like Southern California:

--warm, dry climate
--palm trees
--freeways
--smog
--car culture
--gun violence
--drive-in restaurants with waitstaff that come to your car
--shopping malls
--sprawling suburbs
--gated communities
--poor neighborhoods made up low bungalows
--carjackings
--fear of crime
--white flight
--unemployed young black men with guns

How Johannesburg is not like Southern California:
--no beach (no ocean, for that matter)
--gold mines (the gold was in Northern California)
--no movie industry
--no Latinos
--small East Asian community
--ubiquitous minibus taxis
