"(And, just in case you ever wondered, here's what looks like a fairly workable set of rules for Strip Scrabble.)"

(There's also a drinking game rule but I think that's been dealt with adequately already.)

Enjoy!

"You've seen the meme. You know I'm not a big fan. But I'm also a little bored and want to be amused.

"So, with that in mind and in the spirit of George Carlin's "Things No One Has Ever Said:"

"Have you got something you've never want to say to anyone? Well, now's your chance to let the world know. There's need for comments directed at anyone, because I'm not turning anonymous posting on or IP logging off. It's more fun this way.

"I'll start: Please, for the love of god, help me get this screwdriver out of my eye.

"I can promise you, I never want to say that to anyone. Now you try. . ."

This listing is one extreme backlog listing. K, H, and I visited this place on our loop around North America, years and years ago, when I was still seeing H. I haven't been back there since, if only because I haven't been back to Wichita. However, the place has a website, and the site says it's been there since 1952, so I assume it's still there. I really want to go back, so I'm listing it to remind myself.

You can hardly go wrong in cattle country ordering steak. It's usually excellent and inexpensive, and available from unassuming and unpretentious places.

(Excellent and inexpensive food from unassuming and unpretentious places. Hmmm. That's pretty close to my ideal restaurant experience.)

I'm not going to tax my memory and describe the steak; it's been years since I've been to Doc's, but the three of us had a great meal there. The current menu includes an 8 oz. K. C. Strip for $8.95, and a 17 oz. T-bone for $10.95. All full meals come with sides, the most noteworthy of which is the garlic salad. I nearly didn't order the garlic salad, but the waitress pointed out that it was the house specialty, so we did. It's very garlicky, but quite good.

Two things stick out in the memory: the restaurant does allow smoking, which can be a problem for people who have a low second-hand smoke tolerance; and they had an "Earth by Night" satellite composite poster hanging in the entryway.

The steak was great. There are other items on the menu, but why would you bother?

(If you go there, let me know what you think. I intend to go back the next time I'm in Wichita.)

...as I find myself starting, then stopping myself from making silly, stream-of-consciousness comments on other people's LJ posts.

(I stopped myself from commenting in five different journals before coming to the obvious conclusion.)
