It's almost always true that an email message that I write while pissed off should be saved as a draft rather than sent.

(This means I have a whole pile of pissy email in my draft folder, which is kind of cool as a historical reminder of what I was feeling at the time.)

Yeah, I used to use one of the Unix command-line mailers, too. I think back then I both was much less aware of how much damage I could do with email on the one hand and more willing to fire up an editor within the mailer and save the edited file to some other file on the other.

Clunky (and not really conducive to systematic saving of aborted mail messages) but somewhat effective.
