He can't remember the exact phrasing, and I can't find it on the web, so I'm giving crowdsourcing it a try.

At one point, the lion says something along the lines of "It is not given for mortals to know the outcome of the path we did not take."

Anyone know what the actual quote is?

if i'm remembering correctly there's also a quote like this from A Horse and His Boy.

(without running upstairs and grabbing the book) near the end the girl companion is clawed by a lion. she finds out later it was Aslan who did clawed her, as (for want of a better term) karma for the maid she drugged (who was then whipped). she inquires if anything else happened to the maid, and Aslan answers to the effect of "We only know our own stories, not another's."
