New Haven pizza, Day 2: Pepe's The Spot.
Jan. 12th, 2013 08:27 pmVery short summary: The Hartford Courant is right, Slice at Serious Eats is wrong. Adding bacon to the white clam pizza is overkill. The bacon's saltiness overwhelms the clams.
Nonetheless I ate nearly the whole pizza. One small slice came home in a box. Also I now have half a bottle of Foxon Park White Birch beer in the fridge.
I arrived at 4:15PM, took one glance at the line in front of Pepe's main location and walked to the back of the parking lot to The Spot and was seated immediately. I had my pizza within 15 minutes.
I am very full of pizza even now, four hours later. Next time, no bacon on the white clam pizza.
