There is apparently quite a vintage clothing scene in Germany, with many niche labels doing a thriving business. This eye-catching dress just came across my Facebook feed. It's $119 (+ $12 shipping), made to measure from LolaBlossom, in Biebesheim (just outside Darmstadt) in Hesse. (Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/181126543/50s-vintage-wedding-dress-white-red). Oddly, it's more expensive from their own website (http://www.lolablossom.com/Basic-Petticoat-dress/uni-color-dress/Wedding-petticoat-dress-white-red::114.html): €139.99, I suspect because that price includes 19% VAT. Neither price includes a petticoat, which LolaBlossom only ships to European addresses.

Sadly, despite it being 100% cotton it is also handwash or dry-clean only. Possibly it's the satin ribbons?

(Reposting this to where bedfull_o_books can actually see it!)

Possibly they expect that with machine washing the red would stain the white.

*nod* bedfull_o_books pointed that out, also.

Or that it's too physically delicate for machine washing. (The laundry that does my shirts told me that dry cleaning isn't intrinsically more expensive than water washing. But when you order "dry cleaning" you get hand-pressing rather than machine pressing, and some shirt materials can't take machine pressing, even though they're fine with water washing. And it's the hand pressing that makes "dry cleaning" more expensive.)
