Okay, I'll share a pet peeve about Facebook. It's when a post appears in my feed which I can do nothing with except share it. I can't interact with it in any other way except sending a friend request to the poster, who isn't a friend. The only reason it appears in my feed is because one of my friends interacted with it in some way.

I realize this is because the person who posted it locked down all interaction with their posts, but in that case I really don't need to see it, do I?

I consider this a bug, but clearly Facebook does not.

You said: it's because the user has chosen those settings. They decided to set their posts to visible to whatever more-than-friends group but not their comments as well.

I think we're in agreement. :)

The bug--in my opinion, this behavior is unwanted and thus to me a bug--is that Facebook shows me a post at all when I can't interact with it.

Hmmm. I wonder if Social Fixer has a setting that will block these posts.

You know, I re-read your post twice just to see if you'd noted that and managed to miss it every time, I'm so sorry.

I understand why somebody might want such behavior, though it feels kind of.. narcissistic, maybe? to me. I wonder if some cases if people realize they're doing it but of course I can't ask directly.

It does seem narcissistic if they mean to have their posts appear that way to friends of friends' feeds. More often, though, I suspect people don't realize that's the outcome of their settings. It makes sense that someone would want to lock down comments on their public posts so that trolls can't troll.

I don't know why someone would block likes on public posts, though.
