The basic sentiment is unexceptionable. But I'm puzzled because whenever I see some version of "I'm performing this for me, not for you", it seems to be attached to some sort of social media, seemingly an act of exhibitionism. If it's really "for me", why does it seem to be always acted out in front of the largest available audience?
