Bewley's closed! How sad.

randomnessIts last day was 30 November but I'd only heard about it because of an NPR story tonight.
Apparently the Dublin City Council has decided to save the buildings but despite a campaign to save the cafés, reopening doesn't seem very likely.

Date: 2004-12-22 02:32 pm (UTC)They had the best coffee in Ireland. When my dad and stepmom went to Ireland for the first time, my dad fell in love with Bewley's so much that he packed half of his suitcase full with Bewley's coffee beans.
I'm glad I got to go to the original big fancy cafe in Dublin before it closed!
