Carnaval!

We took advantage of Super Bowl night to go to our local Brazilian restaurant, which instead of showing the Patriots on their projection TV, had hours of coverage from the Sambódromo: Amazing floats, fabulous costumes, and more bare breasts than you'd see in a century of "wardrobe malfunctions". We chatted for a bit with the waiter about the whole spectacle.

Now bedfull_o_books wants to go to Rio for Carnaval.

Yes! It is the last day of Carnival (by my local calendar) today, but here in Australia, we are having another big party this weekend to celebrate the end of the season. Last night at training, all the Brazilian instructors were very excited - I think they miss the grand spectacle of it all.

The party promises to be a maelstrom of bikinis, cocktails, dance music and capoeira, but unfortunately I think I'll be spending the time a little more sedately. But who knows!
